Colour My World
A day like this one is hard to squeeze in to a short blog. There is so much I could tell you about, like the utter grandeur of Canterbury Cathedral; the hopeful onlookers surrounding it, wanting to catch a glimpse of the beauty that was to walk up the aisle; the divine string quartet who accompanied Matt Redman with the music; the understandably ever so proud Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby who watched his daughter walk up the aisle towards him and then conducted their ceremony; the Scottish kilts and brilliant Ceilidh that brought some of Mike's family heritage in to the day; and the wedding gown. Oh that gown! There was so much life, so much beauty and so much colour...
Colour. That's the part I want to home in on because that is what reflects who Mike and Katharine are and what they are to each other. Red hair. Electric blue shoes. Fresh, multicoloured tulips. Elegant, bright bridesmaids. All of these elements reflected their fun, vibrant, energetic, infectious and loving characters. Katharine is completely beautiful, inside and out. Mike is handsome, gentle and adoring. And love binds them together, in one union.
They bring colour to each other's individual worlds which now overlap and merge to make a new, beautiful, multicoloured one. This day was a celebration of what is good and right and all that is pure and noble. It celebrated love and life in all it's colour.
"Love is a feeling completely bound up with colour, like thousands of rainbows superimposed one on top of the other." Unknown
Selfishly, we are sad that both Peter and Jen's and Mike and Katharine's weddings are done. We absolutely loved them. We are in complete admiration of their families, how welcoming, loving and down to earth they are and we have loved every minute we have spent in their company. Thank you Mike and Katharine and all the family for having us. It really has been an absolute honour.
